This web is about the experiences of Captain Vernon Carlisle Brown MC & bar in World War One.   The central content of the web is a transcription of a diary kept by Vernon Brown during his 20 month stint in the battle zone of France.

Note that Vernon Brown is wearing his MC ribbon in both this and the photograph below.  The MC was presented to him in November 1917, so these photographs must have been taken very late in 1917 or more likely in 1918.
